A First Look at Dynamics 365 Business Central 2021 Wave 1

Dynamics Upgrades in Waves

Gone are the days of once-per-decade upgrades for Microsoft Dynamics products – Business Central is committed to twice-yearly updates called “waves.” April 1st, 2021 marks the general release of the latest wave – 2021 wave 1.

Microsoft is promising to bring hundreds of new features in this release, spanning across all the Dynamics 365 applications, but notably Business Central.

Let’s take a look at some of the cool new Business Central goodies.

Advanced Administration

The 2021 release wave 1 delivers a set of features designed to “simplify and improve the way our partners [like Crestwood!] administer tenants, and the way administrators manage licensing and permissions.” This is going to give added control to upper-level users of Business Central.

Usability Upgrades

Microsoft continues to solicit and honor the feedback from users. With 2021 wave 1, Microsoft delivers new features for some of the most requested areas for improvement, such as banking, payments, and much more.

M365 Meets D365

In Business Central 2021 release wave 1, there are improvements in integration with Microsoft 365. They beefed up collaboration with Microsoft Teams, and added enhancements with the Excel and Outlook add-ins. Going Global

With Business Central 2021 release wave 1, Business Central is generally available in India, and we expand to Greece, Romania, and Turkey.

Modern Development

And as always, Business Central strives to be the most dependable and robust platform available for small- or mid-sized businesses. Looking to upgrade your current version of Dynamics 365 Business Central (or move from a legacy system and try it out!), contact your CAM or sales@crestwood.com.
