Recently, Acumatica announced that 2018 R1 would be “retired” and no longer supported from the Acumatica team. I have had many discussions with the clients that I manage as to what it all means to them. We have clients who have different types of deployments which can play a major part on the decision of when to upgrade. But whether you’re looking to upgrade today, tomorrow, next month, or next year, there are a couple of things that you need to consider when making this decision.
- If you are hosted by Acumatica and on a SaaS license, you need to upgrade before January 31st, 2020 to avoid a 25% penalty in your annual license cost. Upgrading will actually save you from paying more than you should.
- If you are using another hosting provider, such as the Crestwood Cloud, upgrading will give you the guarantee that you will get the support you need, if needed, from Acumatica should a problem arise.
Acumatica released 2019 R2 this fall and is already working on beta testing for 2020 R1, which will be presented at Summit in January. Take advantage of the new features that are being added to the product and protect that investment. Upgrading and staying on a supported version is very important. Make sure to connect with your Client Account Manager, partner, etc. to find out what the right path is for you regarding upgrading and the Acumatica Support Lifecycle.
